Your web host is an important consideration. Some of the success of your site will depend on a good web host.

On the plus side, it is relatively easy to change your web host if you are dissatisfied with the service, price, or size of your web hosting plan.

Cost should not be the biggest factor, but of course, it does matter. If you examine five web-hosting offers, you will find five different prices.

The amount of space is not a big factor. It has become very cheap compared to the old days. A beginning site should have no trouble with a basic plan anywhere.

For starters, there is the cost factor. You can buy the exact same site package from five different hosts for five different prices.

Another matter to be weighed is the amount of space provided by your web host. Most hosts have enough space in their basic plans for hundreds, if not thousands, of pages.

Check reliability before you buy a web plan. It will save a lot of heartache.

The reliability of the web host should be considered. Just like your personal computer, web hosts sometimes experience crashes. On good hosts, they have backup computers that instantly go online. Other hosts experience outages on a frequent basis.

When it is time to expand, you may be able to convert your site to a store, add a store to your original site, or create a new store on a new site. It depends on what is offered.

If you have any future plans to add a store to your site or convert your site to a store, you may want to inquire as to how hard it will be, what the cost will be, and whether it is possible at all.

If your web host has FrontPage extensions, they probably have to be "enabled" before they function. You "enable" them in the control panel for your site. There should be easy instructions in the Help section.

FrontPage users must check for something called FrontPage extensions. You can still use FrontPage on a host that does not have FrontPage extensions, but you will not be able to use all of the goodies that come with FrontPage. Essentially, FrontPage extensions are things that sit on the server of the web host and interpret certain features used by FrontPage. It is becoming very common for a web host to offer FrontPage extensions, but you certainly should confirm that fact.
